How to Install a Wall Mounted Flag Pole Holder

Flag pole holders, which mount to the wall, are used both on the outside of a building and indoors, such as in a classroom or conference room. The mounts are screwed on flush against the wall and can hold a small flag, at an appropriate angle, to display it fully. Follow these instructions to mount the flag pole holder correctly so that it does not come loose when a flag is placed inside it.
First: Prepare the wall surface
If the wall has any texture, like stucco or wall texturing, remove it. Sand the area with 150-grit sandpaper to remove the texturing until the holder lays flush against the wall when held up to it.
Second: Position the holder
Position the flag holder, and mark the screw holes with a pencil. Use a drill bit of the appropriate size to drill pilot holes into the wall. This prevents cracking and accidental damage in and around the mount. A good pilot hole is about 50 percent of the diameter of the screws used to mount the flag pole holder to the wall.
Third: Mount the bracket
Hold the bracket in place with your non-writing hand, making sure that the holes in the bracket line up with the pilot holes. Use a manual or electric screwdriver to put screws in each hole. Make them tight, so the bracket is secure and does not wiggle or shift after it is mounted to the wall. Once all the screws are in and tight, the bracket is ready for use.
